The climate can broadly be described as tropical, with the exception of the Himalaya.
The Subcontinent has four seasons:

  • Winter- from December to February
  • Summer- from March to June
  • Monsoon- from July to September
  • Autumn- October and November

The best time to visit the north is between October and March; temperatures are pleasant, the days dry and sunny. From December through to mid-January early morning fog in and around Delhi can disrupt travel plans with flights often delayed or sometimes cancelled. Night temperatures in Rajasthan and the plains often reach freezing point during the winter and it can be chilly before sunrise. April through to August is hot. Early summer is good for wildlife viewing, the parks are free of visitors, vegetation is dry and game easily spotted.

Days 10
Tigers Ranthambhore

After breakfast, you will be driven to Ranthambhore. Reach and relax in the hotel. You can relax or watch some slides on the tiger. In the Afternoon, you will go for the safari.

Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve, at the junction of the Aravalis and the Vindhyas, is a unique example of natural and historical richness, standing out conspicuously in the vast, arid and denuded tract of eastern Rajasthan, barely 14 kilometers from Sawai Madhopur. Ranthambhore is one of the best places in the world to spot tiger in their natural habitat. The Ranthambhore National Park has had more Tiger sightings than any other National Park in the country. It has come to be known as "The land of the Tiger", where most of the documented footage of this majestic beast has been recorded.

It covers a highly varied topography that ranges from gentle to steep slopes; from flat topped hills of the Vindhyas to the conical hillocks and sharp ridges of the Aravalis, from wide and flat valleys to narrow rocky gorges. The National Park is surrounded by the rivers Chambal and Banas.

Ranthambhore forest is of tropical dry deciduous forest type. It has also been categorized as the Dhok climax forest as Dhok (Anogeissus pendulla) are found nearly everywhere. Dhok is an extremely hardy tree, capable of withstanding prolonged droughts. The leaves of this tree are good fodder and they are browsed by herbivores, and form a significant part of their diet. Even the dry, fallen leaves, eaten by them, are rich source of nutrition.

Palas or Cheela or the Flame of the Forest (Butea monosperms) blooms magnificently around mid-April. During the period, Kachida and Anatpura provide an amazing view, like a forest on fire. Around Kamaldhar massive Gum trees (Sterculia urens) with smooth white trunk stand out conspicuously. Similarly, Gurjan (Lannea coromandelica) with greyish trunks at the banks of the lakes and soft wood Salar (Boswellia serrata) dotted atop hills are noticeable.

You will also get to see the fruits of Ber (Zizyphus spp.) and Crocodile Bark Tendu (Diospuyros melanoxylon) which make for a favourite food of the Sloth Bears.

The lakes abound with aquatic vegetation including duck weeds, lilies and lotus. The Park is inhabited by tigers, leopards, caracals, hyenas, sloth bears, wild boars, crocodiles and others. Besides, there are over 300 species of birds, from the majestic Crested Serpent Eagle to the exotic Golden Oriole.

Tiger, at the apex of the food chain, lord over the kingdom in a subtle way. Solitary by nature, it operates in stealth. Therefore tiger sightings, frequent as they are, are always a matter of chance. However, even evidences of tiger s activities are very exciting.

Ranthambhore also has Leopard (Panthera pardus), Caracal (Felis caracal), Leopard Cat (Felis bengalensis), Fishing Cat (Felis viverrina) and the Jungle Cat (Felis chaus). You can also see Sloth Bear, Striped Hyena, Wolf, Wild dog (or Dhole), Jackal, Indian Fox, Palm Civet, Small Indian Civet, Common Indian Mongoose, Small Indian Mongoose, Ratel (or Honey Badger), Marsh Crocodile and the Indian Python. There are two species of Antlers, namely the Spotted Deer (or Chital) and the Sambhar Deer, and, two kinds of Antelopes, namely the Indian Gazelle (or Chinkara) and the Bluebull (or Neelgai). You can spot the Black Buck (another kind of antelope), which is rarely found in the National Park, in Devpura area, in the outskirts of the park. Overnight stay will be at the resort.

Question: Street Life
Answer:

Street Life

Indian cities are bustling and exciting, and in most areas, quite safe. Please do not be offended if the locals stare at you the Indians are friendly and hospitable people and very curious. Almost all city-dwellers speak and understand English, and you will find that most of the street and shop signs are in English as well.

India is a developing country with an enormous and growing population. Social and economic development continues apace, and tourism income undoubtedly has its part to play, but you will certainly experience many of the inescapable symptoms of poverty during your tour, some of which can be shocking to western eyes. For obvious reasons, beggars will be attracted to tour parties, but we would ask that you do not give to them. Many of the beggars will be operating professionally, and regardless of this, giving to them simply perpetuates the practice. Alternatively, our ground staff, in all locations, will be happy to suggest a charitable institution should you wish to make a direct contribution.
